Raising Children 3 months agoWhat parenting/homeschooling seeds are you planting for next year?
Hello! End of the semester for me means checking in on my parenting and homeschooling strategy and I wondered how everyone here is fairing?
Our family turned EVERYTHING upside down this semester. We went from a rigorous Charlotte Mason schedule to making the semester about nervous system regulation as our middle kiddo is detoxing from Lyme…

Raising Children 3 months agoIs there anyone here who has a child with misophona? We’ve gone down so many roads trying to help our son heal. He is debilitated and terrorized by the sensations triggered through sound. His specific trigger sounds are small engines, music, running water and relaxed breathing. After an attempted homebirth we went to the hospital after 32 hours…

Hi Hanna,
No doubt you have tried so many things, it sounds really hard! Have you ever looked into Therapeutic Listening? This is a modality used in occupational therapy, but not all OTs have been trained in it. I just found this short video that describes it some: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FargOkHrMz8
Feel free to message me if you…

An advanced Auricular therapist trained in Nogier techniques can get direct access to the neurological centers with a very good possibility of making a dramatic difference. You might get a hold of these folks to see if a trained practitioner is in your area: https://canadianauricular.ca/

Raising Children 5 months agoSo, this is sort of a sensitive subject, but….
My husband and I have noticed our 6 year old “stimulating” his penis. Today after an argument, he had gone into another room to be alone, and I don’t think he does this consciously, but he must have started, and when I walked into the room to grab something, he rolled over so he wasn’t facing…

I think you should defd talk to him about it in a very chill way and just ask questions because it could be some other kid introduced him to this and it could still be going on which could lead to bigger issues DTL. It’s most likely just super innocent exploration of pleasure to cope with something else but better to be sure!

Raising Children 6 months agoMy son is about to start TK here in the SFV, CA. Excited but nervous, he is the only child in my family. He is having some trouble with his speech. “They” say he’s not where he needs to be. Is there any advice you guys can give to help with this transition? Also, any tips to kick his speech up a notch?
Thanks

What is TK? How old is your son Jesus?

The first thing I’d offer is to ignore the school’s perception of your child and embrace his uniqueness. There is no actual gauge as to “where a child needs to be”. Is it necessary for your child to be in TK? Or can you keep him at home? If it is necessary, you can just tell the school you are fine with where he is at. They will eventually…

Hey Mike. I was just looking around for a possible group for my son. He’s 16 and wants to talk philosophy with some peers. We are not happy living in Jacksonville FL and are about to visit Nevada City/ Grass Valley area to see if we (and mostly our 2 teenage sons) will like it.
I grew up in the Bay Area (it was good then) and already love… - Load More
