Your body is a repository of all knowledge, and too much academics can actually interfere with “know thyself, and … ” Just jump in and trust that books simply bring what you already know to the surface.

A good intro book is Hermetic Philosophy and Creative Alchemy by Marlene Seven Bremner and then there is the classic The History of Magic by Eliphas Levi and of course The Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manly Hall!
