    • Hi all. The family and I (wife and 2 teenagers) are looking to move and get a homestead fired up. Many podcasts I listen to say “find the community first”. So, are others looking and where? And who’s already planted and would vouch for the community they are in.

Does anyone know of a group that is more focused on this?

      It seems Barre and…

      • Congrats dominic on taking steps to move to the land. I’m interested. I’m in Berkeley, SF Bay Are, and prefer to stay in Northern California. The “Alfavedic area” would be fine with me, though I don’t have homesteading, let alone off grid experience.

      • Hey Kev. Thanks for the reply. What I am hoping to find are some folks that have some land already and like where they’re at. Something along the lines of “We love it here in …. and we just noticed there’s 20 acres down the street for sale.”

Oregon is a beautiful state. I’ve mostly been up the coast. I know a few people though that grew…

        • Hi Folks,

I had posted about this a month ago but it seems my post was deleted somehow.

I have a friend in Tennessee- north of Nashville that owns 140 acre self sustaining plot of land and is looking for people to move their to help with the land and the farm. There are currently several cabins on property and more housing can be built directly…

          • I saw this!! Sent it to my buddy in Franklin TN when you first posted. I have a high schooler right now-but when she graduates next year I may reach out. Sounds like a fun adventure 😊

            • Brendan, I have some friends that I think would be a great addition to our community who will be moving from Reno to Tennessee next fall. I’d be interested in knowing a few more details that I could pass along to them if that’s ok! Thanks

                • That’s a good question Abram…fill your own helium balloon and strap one of those mifi transportable wifi devices to it? Haha Jed uses those during the day so he can answer emails and write proposals from his computer in the truck…I wonder how far out the service goes…and how much he has been irradiating himself to keep his business going…

                  • Thank you for opening this discussion. I look forward to responses. A friend of mine did research and concluded that for them a satellite phone was the way to operate so they could be in touch with family. It seems satellite internet has limitations. This is the company my friend chose for…

                • Let’s move to the Land!

I would be happy to speak with anyone in Ca who has successfully obtained a land patin and learn how they enforced it in their particular county and what challenges they did or didn’t run into.

the issue i have seen with looking for case law as regards these types of “cases” is that the courts do not want president, so they are often settled before any preceding can take place, as such there is little to be found in cursory searches within the public record.
