Dreams & Nightmares

Looking for some help or recommendations on clearing bouts of night terrors I have been having for several years. I have had recurring nightmares since I was a toddler but they have become increasingly vivid and horrifying since giving birth to my first child three years ago. I do not watch any horror movies or have ever experienced violent trauma that would impart these images in my mind from real experience. I believe this is a much deeper spiritual rooted cause than a psychological. Lately they have been so graphically gory and violent that I am disturbed for days following the dreams. The terror lingers after waking and I feel the energy around me to be unsettled. They are like the worst “Saw” movie or horror thriller imaginable. I wake up several times a night nursing my second child and sometimes I wake in the night feeling the uneasiness in the room and have terrible nightmares after going back to sleep. I have heard that after childbirth a woman can be energetically vulnerable. I have prayed, attempted meditating (honestly still so sleep deprived from motherhood/nursing that I cannot hold meditation long enough without passing out!), dowsing, etc but nothing seems to help. If anyone has any recommendations I would be so grateful.

Hi Bea, thanks for the suggestion! I have slept in the guest room and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I’ve had dreams like this at a previous home and even on travel while staying at hotels.

Hi Cheyenne. Sorry you’re going through this. I would suggest homeopathy but not sure if you’re still breastfeeding. RMDY has a website full of information and a list of homeopaths you could contact and ask.

    Hope that helps.

Thank you Brittany! I have tried several homeopathic remedies (actually just finished PIHAP with Lisa Strbac which was incredible!) including Narayani remedies for Fear, Divine Protection, Removal of entities, calming, and others. Nothing seems to help unfortunately.

Hello, Cheyenne. What I have learned about nightmares is that they speak to deeper truths not so much the ‘trauma’ that may have triggered it. Extreme nightmares are meant to get our attention, as with recurring dreams but they have little to do with the literal content, but relates to the story that we harbor. Sickness is the same, it is the body/mind’s attempt to heal. We need not pay attention to the symptoms, only assist the process. And assistance means full acceptance, letting go of any need to resist what is happening. The nightmare always points to the dreaming mind, the illusion or story of mortality, the fear of death. This is what needs to be faced, ultimately to see ourselves as God sees us. Unceasing prayer. Meditation and prayer is what we are, not what we do. The healing is a re-membering who we truly are in spirit, no longer a material body that can have a horrific end. “My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves.” (Matthew 21:13) The ‘house’ is the temple, the true body, Mind. We are spiritual not a material thing that can be stolen from us. Knowing this, the story of sickness, fear and death comes to an end.

Thank you for the thoughtful reply, Ed. I have never really had a fear of death, until I had children then the thought of leaving them was sickening. These dreams started very early in life and progressively gotten worse along with the feeling of an unwelcome entity. I have called upon Christ for protection when I wake from these dreams and lately intuitively called upon Archangel Michael which sometimes helps.

Hey Cheyenne, That sucks! Here’s my bit:

I had a lot of nightmares as a kid too. The details varied and are likely irrelevant, but I believe it went on a few years.. I read a lot as a kid too, and while I don’t remember exactly how this came about, I ran into the idea of lucid dreaming. It had happened spontaneously before and I guess I started focusing more on doing it. When I was able to “wake up” (know I was dreaming) in the middle of something scary I summoned all my (faith) “knowing” that it was my dream and I could do what I wanted, so that (whatever) couldn’t hurt me. After doing this a few times the night terrors stopped. I’ve had a few intense or haunting dreams since, but have always been able to overcome them by facing into whatever the fear was and remembering I’m ok, that I’m held and protected from beyond the veil (evidence has been persistent in this, and it’s true for you too) which I guess parallels what I experience with a lot of things in life (sitting with my own emotions, etc) nowdays. Anyway my favorite practice for getting lucid in dreams is to check myself during the day.. sincerely explore whether I could be dreaming, and look for anomolies. The Don Juan book said to look at your hand a lot with the same idea. and take notes so you remember more from dreams. Worth a try, maybe!

Then an entirely different angle: In “The Wisdom of Teeth” (I’m looking into doing “dentosophy” with a dentist the Bigelsen’s work with) Michel Montaud’s son had crying fits for a few years then was drugged to sedate him for school, after which he had night terrors for years, until his dad came home with a device that started to adjust his mouth (his teeth and jaw structure, breathing, swallowing) and a week into that treatment his terrors stopped, for good. Could be physical elements?

Oh, you mentioned calling on the Christ, which is awesome, but also got me thinking about Jesus as counselor in that he had a lot to say about things like fear, casting out “demons”, etc, which might shed light too. I literally ran across this today in a non=religious essay: “These things I do you shall do also, and even greater things” from John 14/12 and no I do NOT memorize bible verses (though I like that one). it’s just synchronous. If you believe it, it means “You’ve got this!” ; )
